After the single leaked this weekend, Britney Spears released her highly anticipated track, "Work B*tch," a day earlier than planned. The fast-paced song is already in iTunes' top five, overtaking fellow diva Lady Gaga's "Applause" and hot on the tail of Katy Perry's "Roar." The song, produced by will.i.am, sounds like it could get lost in the shuffle of top 40 dance mixes, but I do like the message: you gotta work hard to get what you want. Listen to the track below and let us know what you think!
Britney Spears took to Instagram on Sunday to share a sexy snap of herself in a blue bikini with the caption, "Gonna get my tan on in the desert in between shots on the #WorkBitch set today. It's HOT out here people!!!! #desert #heatwave #WorkBitchDay2." Britney is currently shooting the music video for her upcoming single "Work Bitch" and has been dropping hints about the song and the clip via social media all week. She tweeted a photo from the set on Saturday (see below) and told fans that she "danced her ass off" during the filming. Britney's new single is reportedly part of the big announcement she'll be making on Sept. 17, which is also the day she is set to perform on Good Morning America. For the past few weeks, Britney's official website has featured a countdown with the message, "All eyes on me," which has fans speculating that the big secret could have to do with a new album and her upcoming residency in Las Vegas.
Justin Timberlake is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the scandalous Miley Cyrus performance that rocked the VMAs — and he's coming to Miley's defense! When asked about the performance, he compared it to classic VMA performances from Madonna and even ex Britney Spears. "Madonna: wedding suit, humping the stage. Britney: strip tease," Justin told CBS. "This is not an uncommon thing. I actually thought all the bears were really cool!"
Justin continued to defend Miley, saying, "Listen man, you know, it's the VMAs. What did you guys expect? I like Miley. I like her a lot. I think, you know, she's young. She's letting everyone know that she's growing up. I just think it's the VMAs. It's not like she did it at the Grammys. Let her do her thing. You know?" What do you think?
The 2013 VMAs are almost here, and we're celebrating by taking a look back at the most jaw-dropping moments from the unpredictable award show. From Kanye West's infamous mic-grab from Taylor Swift in 2009 to Beyoncé's baby bump reveal in 2011, there is always something exciting going on both on and off the stage at the VMAs. Click through to see those moments and many more, and don't forget to check out our live MTV VMAs viewing party on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 8:30 p.m. EDT/5:30 p.m. PDT.
This week we got word that *NSYNC would be reuniting at this weekend's MTV VMAs, and it got me thinking about the VMA show I remember the most: 1999. Chris Rock hosted, Smash Mouth and Blink-182 entertained during the preshow, Lauryn Hill was the queen of the moonmen, and Britney Spears joined *NSYNC for a medley of ". . . Baby One More Time" and "Tearin' Up My Heart." Fatboy Slim spun to "Praise You," Jay Z performed three of his hits, and the Beastie Boys took home the first-ever hip-hop award. On top of that, presenters included Tom Green, David Bowie, Will Smith, Carson Daly, Janeane Garofalo, Mark McGrath, Jennifer Lopez, Johnny Depp, and of course, Paul McCartney. Before this weekend's festivities, let's take a minute to remember what may be the greatest VMA show of all time.
Britney Spears and *NSYNC performed together.
Please let this happen again this year.
TLC performed "No Scrubs" then won best group video for it.
Lil' Kim wore her infamous purple pasty.Don't even pretend you don't remember this.
Diana Ross jiggled her boob onstage later.I told you so.

Pop worlds collided at the Smurfs 2 premiere in LA today when Britney Spears met up with Katy Perry on the blue carpet. Both of the stars made the event a family affair, with Britney bringing her two sons, Jayden and Sean, to the bash and Katy posing for photographers with her grandma, Ann Hudson. This isn't the first time that Katy's grandmother has made a trip down a red carpet as she's also attended the 2011 Grammy Awards with her superstar granddaughter. Other celebrity guests at the Smurfs 2 premiere included Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays, who both stopped to talk to POPSUGAR at the event. Stay tuned for their interviews!
Katy was very excited to meet Britney at the event, and even tweeted a photo of the duo sharing a hug, writing, "OMG! I can't, I'm crying!" Despite the happy tears, this isn't Katy's first time encountering Britney, so to speak. She revealed at the premiere that she secretly sang background vocals on Britney's new single for the film, "Ooh La La." Katy said, "Me and [songwriter] Bonnie McKee secretly did some background vocals on that song. So maybe listen for our voices."
Britney Spears released her new music video for "Ooh La La" today! The video for the song, which is included on the Smurfs 2 soundtrack, holds a special treat since her adorable boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James, are featured waving to their mom as she is zapped into Smurfs land. Britney shared her excitement over her sons' debut on her Twitter account, writing, "'Ooh La La' video premiere — featuring my very own Preston & Jayden! Can't nobody get down like us!" She also hyped up the excitement prior to the release of her latest by sharing a screengrab of her and her sons from the video on her Instagram account with the caption: "Omg. How cute are my boys?!" "Ooh La La" is a single from Britney's eighth studio album, which she recently dubbed on Twitter as her "most personal album ever."
It's fun to see Sean Preston and Jayden James excited about their mom in the video, but do you think that kids have a place in their parents' music videos? Tell us, is the boys' debut cute or too much?
Jay-Z isn't usually very active on Twitter, but on Monday, he engaged with fans throughout the day and some A-list celebrities joined the conversation. During the spontaneous Q&A, Jay-Z addressed everything from the buzzed-about Miley Cyrus lyric on his new album to his favorite Britney Spears song, and both stars shared their reactions on Twitter. The 2013 Billboard Music Awards are rolling into Las Vegas on Sunday. It's shaping up to be a great show, with Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, and Lil Wayne scheduled to perform, while Madonna will be honored with the Top Touring Artist award. Before we check out all the action this weekend, though, we're taking a look back at the Billboard fun in years past. Remember when Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey took the stage together in 2003 or when Britney Spears heated things up with Rihanna in 2011? Britney Spears was back in fine form when she hosted the Wango Tango music festival in Carson, CA, yesterday. She was joined by her former kindred X Factor judge Demi Lovato as well as performers Avril Lavigne, Bruno Mars, and Maroon 5's Adam Levine. Britney wore a formfitting black dress as she took the stage to introduce the acts, marking her first onstage appearance since she left The X Factor back in January. While she didn't perform this time around, Britney fans will get a chance to see the singer perform live soon as she confirmed last week that she will be taking up a residency in Las Vegas. The concert series, which will reportedly be held at Planet Hollywood, will begin in the Fall. Preparing for Sin City isn't the only thing on Britney's mind — she recently tweeted that she is reading The Goddess Inheritance, a YA novel by Aimee Carter.
